Tell everyone you know that you are looking...
Think about your family - they each know people who have jobs. Think about your friends - they may have a job or their parents may have a job. Think about your acquaintances, people you know through school, church, extra curriculars etc.
Now is the time to look for opportunities close to home: is there a family near you that needs babysitting so the parents can work? It's likely that jobs will start opening before schools will, so make it known that you are available.

Dress for the interview: dress up from what is expected on the job.
Follow up after you apply and ask if they got your application, whether they've had the time to look it over, why you are so interested in this job etc. You can also send a thank you note and use that to mention a point you wish you had made.
Crozet Jobs: Most students need jobs that are close-by. Your best bet will be Harris Teeter, the Lodge at Old Trail and Mountainside. A little further out try Boar's Head or Farmington. Check with Ms. Bertrand for help with the application.
Beware of scams. and do not purchase items that you will need to sell in order to make money. I am not buying your knives! Ask me to check out a web site for you if you like.
Under age 16, Child Labor Laws that restrict what you can do and when. You may find a job but your options are limited. Try being an entrepreneur (start your own business): babysit, cut grass, help families around your neighborhood. If you find a job, get a work permit here.
Get the most out of your job. Look for someone at work who can be a mentor to you. Ask that person questions so you can learn more about the job and the expectations. You may want to target skills that can help you move up in the future, a mentor can help you identify and learn those skills. A mentor can be an inspiration and support. Pretty soon, you can be a mentor for someone new.
